  We were lucky enough to attend a "preview night" before the official opening. Having never heard of Urban Plates, we were "newbies" to the process. Cafeteria style where they plate things for you but don't let the word cafeteria scare you: this was very tasty and healthy. The food was more along the lines of an upscale hotel buffet but with the casual friendliness of your local restaurant. I had the ceasar salad and added "a protein" of steak. It came on a giant plate (but you can also get your order to-go). Very delicious! Further down the "buffet", I ordered a side of garlic roasted brussel sprouts - again delicious. The environment was fun - we sat outside with our friends (who also loved their meals!) at a tall table between beautiful fire pits. I think this restaurant will be a hit for Thousand Oaks and we are looking forward to returning very soon.
